In Dobrich’s day care centre everything goes according to plan

In August and September 2012, the centre organised a summer camp for 20 children, which took place at the „Golden Sands“- resort at the black sea. The ten-day camp was organized with regard to the children’s special needs. Working groups strengthened the communication and trust between the kids and day care centre employees. Many games, interesting discussions such as singing and dancing were also planned.

Moreover, also in September 2012, a small event was organized at the centre to present the children with several footballs that were arranged by the H. Stepic CEE Charity. Right after their drawing lessons, the children went to play football or played other ball games.

On the occasion of the International Day on Prevention of Child Abuse on 19 November the day care centre organized an open house day. Five parents and 22 children visited the event that focused on the issue of preventing abuse.

Successful implementation
The support of the H. Stepic CEE Charity together with Austrian Red Cross contributed in 2012 to the fact that 95 per cent of the children, visiting the day care centre, improved their performance at school. 99 per cent of the children now attend school on a regular basis and are motivated to learn.
In 50 per cent of the cases child-parent-relationships have improved considerably.

At the day care centre itself some things were renovated to keep the building in good shape. New windows were provided and the roof was newly installed. Furthermore, due to the financing and support of all the partners, a new laptop was bought that now makes work for the centre personnel much easier.

Since the year 2000, children who are destined to live on the streets or have experienced difficult family relationships, find help in Dobrich’s day care centre. There they are motivated to attend school on a regular basis and step by step are re-socialized. With the support of the H. Stepic CEE Charity Dobrich is able to host up to 30 children in need, who are between six and 13 years old.  The children are provided with warm food and they are taken care of by a team of teachers and psychologists. In extreme cases children are given the opportunity to stay overnight at the centre.
