H. Stepic CEE Charity closes educational gaps in Bosnia and Herzegovina

After the overwhelming success of last year’s campaign for children in need in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the H. Stepic CEE Charity is working for socially disadvantaged families in 2015 there once again. Together with the Austro-Bosnian association MEDO, € 30.000 have been raised to support education for poor children. Libraries at 22 schools were donated a total of 3.300 books; 650 packages with schooling materials are waiting for the arrival of their new owners to come, when school starts in September.

“Thanks to the help of the Charity, projects are realized, which substantially improve the quality of education in economically underdeveloped regions.  Many of the schools have, if any, only limited financial resources. Consequently, all initiatives which aim at promoting high quality education are more than welcome. As a socially responsible bank, Raiffeisen Bank will continue supporting and promoting sustainable educational initiatives for children and adolescents in need”, said Karlheinz Dobnigg, CEO of Raiffeisen Bank in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Mirsada Begovic, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the canton Tuzla also showed her appreciation: “I am thrilled that the cooperation between MEDO and the Charity continues steadily and I am happy for the beneficiaries of the projects. On behalf of the ministry, I would like to thank everyone who helped to bring this initiative to life. To give away a book means to open a window into the future. The Charity correctly realized that there is no better investment than the one in education and made many children and their families happy through the project implementation. For the greater good of the beneficiaries, I hope that this fruitful cooperation continues.”

Since the beginning of the partnership between MEDO and the Charity in 2012 more than 10.000 school books and over 2.000 school packages were distributed to schools and children in need in the returning areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The initiative enjoys a further program period.
