Education is the first step to an enhanced future. This is the reason why the H. Stepic CEE Charity supports continually – and first and foremost – projects that focus on education such as “We want to learn!” in Uzhgorod in Ukraine. Together with the local NGO Helping Hand we financed a bus that picks up the children from their homes during winter and drives them safely to their school. Only in this way their attendance at school and access to education can be guaranteed.
150 families with more than 300 children between two and 14 years will be encouraged to send their children to school on a regular basis. Often the parents themselves are illiterate and overstrained with their own lives. They also sometimes ignore the importance of a solid education and neglect the sorrow of their children. The children are often left to themselves and are therefore drifting into drug and alcohol abuse and ultimately crime.
To avoid this and to make it possible for some of the children to experience a regular school attendance, the Charity financed the bus.
