In a village called Vorontsovo, the H. Stepic CEE Charity and the charitable association kleine herzen have collaborated to change the lives of more than 80 adolescent boys and girls from 8 to 18 years, who are currently living in an orphanage. Vorontsovo, with its 300 inhabitants, is located a two hours’ drive from the city of Pskov and about 800 km North West of Moscow.
Many of these children come from broken family backgrounds. The children’s parents have either passed away or lost their parental rights due to alcoholism or crime. Often their families do not have the financial means to keep their own children at home.
The orphanage in Vorontsovo is unfortunately facing serious financial difficulties. The biggest problem is the lack of basic facilities. Thus, the Charity provided a sports area and shower facilities for the kids. Moreover, 7 fully-equipped computers for the children's home were acquired. Furthermore, people responsible for the Charity’s project promote personal contact with the orphans via animated correspondence. In this way the children receive a sense of security and esteem which most of them never experienced before.
