Beds for the Boarding School in Pushkinskiye Gory (Russia)

At the Boarding School and sanatorium in Pushkinskiye Gory 140 children who suffer from tuberculosis and other severe lung diseases are being taken care of. They come from socially disadvantages families in Pskov, the poorest region in Russia. The desolate state of the only institution of that kind far and wide rendered it difficult to treat them appropriately. Broken beds with dirty, old mattresses and way too thin blankets delayed their healing substantially.

With our project „Beds for the Boarding School in Pushkinskiye Gory” the H. Stepic CEE Charity provided the necessary 80 complete beds to vastly improve their situation. This way we ensure that the children get healthy again quicker and get to visit school again.

As I saw pictures from the sanatorium for the first time I could not believe under what terrible circumstances the children had to live and in this case sleep. I am really happy that we intervened so quickly. All in all it is only a drop in the bucket but for our fosterlings it is vital”, says Bernadette Umgeher, RBI-staff and manager of this project.

No contribution is too low to substantially improve these children’s lives – they constitute the future generation and we cannot neglect them, no matter where. Thank you for your support!
