The orphanage for babies and toddlers of up to four years in Idritsa, situated in the Pskovskaja region, faced a daily struggle concerning the provision of its residents. 50 abandoned babies and infants, including mentally or physically disabled ones, call the orphanage in Idritsa their home. The orphanage's modest budget is not always sufficient to defray all of its operating costs. Particularly the supply with diapers turned out to be a problem, since the necessary financial means did not suffice to cover the daily demand of diapers and to improve the missing hygiene.
Therefore, we jointly supported the orphanage with our longstanding partner the charitable association kleine herzen and delivered diapers for a year in advance.
Furthermore, we were able to help by replacing old and leaking windows in the children’s bedrooms. Watertight windows are especially necessary during the ice cold winter months so that the babies and toddlers remain in good health. The balcony was also enclosed and meanwhile has become the favourite playground of the children and babies.
Now and in the future, the H. Stepic CEE Charity will focus on the children’s well-being in Idritsa’s orphanage.
