Children’s Day is being celebrated worldwide since 1925 and is still very popular in many countries in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). This year, the H. Stepic CEE Charity and local Raiffeisen banks together organized numerous charity events to make the Children’s Day even more special for their young protégés.
In Tirana, where the Charity and Don Bosco run a Day Care Centre for educational and health support for street children, was arranged for the children to participate in the city’s long year event “Dance for All”. It was great for the young dancers from the Day Care Centre to feel the sense of togetherness and belonging. They enjoyed the weekly visits of a choreographer, who prepared them thoroughly for the event. In Budapest a joyful and adventurous day at the zoo was organized for the children from the project “Sure beginnings”, as well as for the little ones of the mothers, supported by “Job trainings for single mothers”.
“We create sustainable value” was the motto in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where Raiffeisen employees did voluntary gardening work around a children’s playground, which was donated two years ago to the kindergarten of Šareni voz.In Minsk Priorbank staff members decided that an illusionist, clown and face make-up artist would help cheer up the children at a local oncological hospital. Following the initial idea of the Children’s Day, to improve the circumstances of children in need, Raiffeisen employees in Serbia (Belgrade) and in Ukraine (Bogodukhiv) engaged through their Corporate Volunteering Program in renovation work in a school and an orphanage.
Since 2006, the Charity has been committed to helping children and young adults in need across the CEE region. Many of the Charity’s stories are stories of success, courage, motivation and the will to go on. On June 1 we were celebrating life and shared happy memories with our children. The remaining 364 days of the year, the Charity continues its devoted work to give the forgotten, hungry and lonely children and young adults under our care a fair chance for a better future. We are happy to have set the foundation of celebrating together with our project partners and supporters this day, which symbolizes everything the Charity stands and works for.
