Bus for children’s hospice, Minsk

In Mai 2010, Herbert Stepic together with Sergey Kostyuchenko, Chairman of the Board of Priorbank, presented the Belarusian Children’s Hospice in Minsk with a special bus financed by Priorbank and Raiffeisen Leasing. The bus will allow the hospice to provide mobile medical care for terminally ill children.

The Children’s Hospice was established in October 1994 at the initiative of the Belarusian Republic's Children’s Haematological Oncology Centre. Being One of the first home-hospices in the states of the former USSR, the centre aids its patients by providing them with regular home visits from a palliative team that includes a doctor, a nurse, a social-worker psychologist, a volunteer and, when appropriate, a pastor. Without exception, every child the centre treats is facing an incurable disease. Making scheduled visits by bus, the palliative team provides support to these children, as well as their families, according to their individual needs. This enables these terminally ill children to stay with their families while they receive professional care.

Details of the bus:
Volkswagen Crafter 35, 13 seats
Special equipment for the transport of disabled people:
  • handrails in the passenger saloon
  • compartment with tight rack strapping wheelchairs
  • sleeping berth for one person
  • tail lift for boarding and debussing of wheelchair users
  • passenger seats with armrests.
